Very clean, i can clearly hear all the elements and none are too distracting or not noticeable enough. MAYBE the 808 is a little loud but that's advanced nitpicking.

That ping pong delay on the "Arps" at 0:51 and 1:58 is my favorite thing.

Thanks for comment and feedback.

I can imagine a cute little animation being accompanied by this piece.

The Tremolo strings are very interesting, they add some texture, some rhythmic and harmonic context in an original way.
The part where it's just piano reminds me a little of childrens corner, or just debussy in general.
There is also a bit of BOTW/TOTK in there somehow.

Cresince responds:

I definitely let Japanese piano styles influence my playing. Monogatari, totk, Mouse on the Keys, etc. tend to sneak their way in when I pull out the acoustic. :P

I think I am in a deep cave system inside an alien planet. It might be the planet Lars Ulrich is from, that would explain the snare Sound at 1:30.

You made lots of different sounds and they are all revolting (in a good way), just like neuro funk is supposed to be.
But what you can improve is the overall balance. For example, at 0:24 I would have liked to hear that gnarly bass a little more emphasized and have that heavily reverbed thing a little quiter instead.
Or at 1:30, the snare is a little too distracting (a little distracting is fine though) and the synths are not as much in the focus as I'd like them to be.

This song makes me think of Eminem and undertake at the same time.

It's so beautiful and emotional with those soft piano licks and the strings. That's a tiny bit cliché but it doesn't really hurt that much, at least in my opinion.
The overall soundscape is just well made. The very quiet drums leave are just audible enough to give the track a hop hop feel but they leave enough room for the natural instruments to really shine without having to be loud themselves.
What makes me a little sad is that from the beginning of the song, this beat is just asking for some vocals to take over and tell a nice depressing story - but these vocals never come. I know that's a lot to ask, especially for the entry of a contest with such a strict deadline. But still, I think vocals are what's missing.

GlowBoyMusic responds:

This meant the absolute world to me to read.
You have no idea how much I wanted to write lyrics to this one! I may do that as a reprise in the future now that you mentioned it.

This music was made based on exactly the kind of soul I want to bring back into this amazing genre. And you just gave me that confirmation that I am doing something right here.

Thank you. I hope you get blessed with ALL the best snacks of your choice for this review.

Mad love, Glow.

I think it's either 15/4 or it's 7/4 and then 8/4 every other beat, or it's 4/4, then 3/4, then 2 measures of 4/4 again.

I do like that starting melody. It's bold and it really embraces this time signature you used, I just wish the instrument that plays it was a bit more... Powerful I guess.

That would also lead to a stronger contrast at 1:30 where it leads into the bridge.

I general I like your composition but your sound design and choice of instruments isn't as well developed.

Very pleasant atmosphere and I also like how you used grace notes to make the melodies sound a little more interesting despite using such simple instruments.
Those crash cymbals don't sound good though.

Interloping responds:

I figured it had too much crash, Im glad it was pointed out. Ill remove a lot of the excess and leave the crashes in at the end of the main portions at the very least. Thank you for the feedback!

Really fun, the melody is very energetic and sounds good. It's a little hard to follow but in this case, that's not a problem in the slightest. I really like the high pitched growl that comes in at 0:27.

Another thing I really appreciate is the synth solo that starts at 0:40. It feels very new and prevents the piece from becoming stale.

The only problem I have is that the drums get a bit annoying towards the end. It's a pretty generic disco beat and it's a little overused at this point, it would be better if you had some parts without drums or with a different pattern, and used a different hi hat sound.
But still, really enjoyable piece.

I can see how it's inspired by tboi music. I don't know if it's suited for background music in a game though, because it doesn't loop very well.

Anyway, I like the overall texture a lot. It's busy but not overwhelming and everything blends together pretty well.
During the sections with the drums it's missing a melody in my opinion. It has that synth and those bell-type sounds, both of which could work as a melody, but because it has both, neither of them really feel like they're the focus.
The transitions at 0:44 and 1:28 are a little too abrupt for my taste. Something smoother would work better, especially because the whole piece is so mellow.

Qwerzer responds:

Thanks dude!
Yeah I suck at transitions lol, I usually just throw in another part, definitely something that's being worked on.
And yeah the melody bit is my bad I threw in too many layers that play at the same time and they're all fighting to be the lead, also something to improve for my next songs.
Thanks a lot for the compliments and feedback, it's much appreciated!

the drop at 1:40 is the best part. The mellow parts are also pretty nice. in general I like how frantic and disjointed it feels. But i think it could be a bit faster and even more style switches, especially in the drops, you could have went even further. Still, it's very fun to listen to and has many enjoyable sections

I love the sheer awkwardness of this track. It fits so well with the title too. Take for example the extremely bold modulation at 0:52 or the fact that after all this light hearted music, it ends on a truly beautiful em#9 chord (I think). Some of the instrumentation and percussion used also adds to that. It's just hilarious. I enjoyed this a lot, thank you.

wilidacious responds:

thank you so much!
